The Fuel Level sensor sends a voltage signal to the ECM as a measure of the fuel level inside the tank. Without this signal the vehicle will not pass inspections and the EVAP system will not run its monitor. The ECM also use this sensor to actuate other components, such as purge, fuel pump and in some cases EGR.
