Mitsubishi i MiEV Sport – Tokyo Motor Show 2007 : DigInfo

movie.diginfo.tv DigInfo News Related Link www.mitsubishi-motors.co.jp The i MiEV Sport is Mitsubishi’s flagship environmentally friendly electric vehicle. Based on the i MiEV first exhibited in 2006, the Sport features an aerodynamic fastback silhouette concealing an aluminium frame. The three motor system utilizes two in-wheel motors driving the front wheels and one powering the rear wheels for a maximum speed of 180 km/h and a driving range per charge of 200 km. It also features the S-AWC system which uses torque vectoring technology to send a different amount of torque to any wheel at any given time, which will also be present on the new Lancer Evo 10. With a long wheel base, the battery is stored under the floor with the motor, inverter and charger beneath the luggage compartment, this layout lowers the center of gravity, optimizes weight distribution and increases the safety of the occupants in the event of a rear end collision. Using PLC technology, which uses a household power socket as a LAN port and the indoor power wiring as LAN cable, allows the user to connect the car to their home computer to do things such as: preset vehicle recharging, update navigation systems, send or receive email and collect vehicle maintenance information. Mitsubishi are also developing a microwave wireless charging system to make recharging more convenient, which they hope will boost the future prospect of the electric vehicle.

    @fangorn81 If that’s the case, why’d one need a sport version then? :)

    @kawaihui very good analogy

    @fangorn81 A BIG FACT!

    Unfortunately the batteries are useless below-15 degrees Celsius which drastically lowers the range of a full charge. Should be a good car though, for those who live in cities in a warmer climate.

    It feels like a future model of the Beetle.

    i like it. very futuristic. if we can creat very very very efficient solar panels, and place them on top of EV, no doubt it can charge the car where ever you are, and no doubt drive it as a solar car. and if we can create a battery that can hold alot of electricity, oh man, im getting all excited just talking about it.

    well many of you may be happy to know this car has 680Nm of torque!!!! It should flat out smoke cars to its top speed.

    Repairs for what? How much do you pay to have the oil changed on your laptop? I just had my car in for it’s “B” service and it was just under $350. That was for an oil, filter, air filter, and coolant change with a $40 discount. EV’s have much less to break down/wear out in a mechanical since. I expect to save about $600 a year on maintenance costs alone.

    The only reason I can see for the fans is the drag is already there. If the fan was not there, it would just be a flat surface for the air to bounce off of. But I would like to see the wind tunnel data for the car with and with out the fans.

    Pretty impressive. 112 MPH and holds a charge for around 124 miles. That’s good stuff. I just wonder price.

    Even with any necessary tweaking, why criticize such a positive product?
    Why advocate the many who’ve kept earth & people friendly solutions from the hands of consumers, in the name of greed and personal profit. :-)

    I thought the exact same thing. it’s like trying to create perpetual motion. The power coming out of the turbines would be created by the electic movement, so your really just wasting the energy.

    Mitsubishi Rules! :)

    Sorry, but you’ve missed the point. I was against regulations on cars. The reason for this being the transfer between petrol and electric cars will happen regardless of regulations, as EV tech improves. Have some faith in humanity, honestly; you don’t need to put a gun to anyone’s head. Anyway cars aren’t the biggest polluter, by far; they’re merely a symbol of pollution. They are, ironically, far surpassed by power stations and other forms of industry. They’re even beaten by cow flatulance.

    True people should have freedom to choose what ever car they want to drive. But gas cars produce large amounts of pollution. There should be laws that stop pollution from cars. That way people can drive zero emission cars.

    Too true. Some designer probably didn’t know anything about cars and built this thing. They should be selling the Lan Evo MIEV. That would be an awesome car.

    Please don’t tell me their serious about the wind turbines in the front of the car. Doesn’t anyone realize that just causes drag.

    Wouldn’t the cost of repairs be through he f**king roof?

    Good technology. We need it now though, These things always seem to be a year or so away. Vortex you are kind of right in a way in that people should have to be forced to be green, we should be making everyone aware of the changes more every day about the enviroment, that way people will be more willing to go green. Personally Im all for EVs as I have one myself. The real culprits here are the controlling governments and oil ppl who have the power slow EV progresss. They make too much tax on oil

  23. By RequiemVortex on Jul 26, 2010 | Reply

    Sorry, but I think your opinion on petrol cars is wrong. People have the right to drive whatever car they want, they should not be forced to be green, this should be a choice. Second of all electric cars and electric motrcycles are the birth child of petrol cars. Perhaps instead of rubbishing petrol cars you should put your efforts towards promoting electric vehicles, by which I mean supporting their use instead of imposing a law against the use of the former option, the petrol car.

    Petrol Cars should be banned.
